Running Gear

Here are some of my favorite running accessories:

Garmin Forerunner 405

I used this watch for 2 years before upgrading.

Now I use the Garmin Forerunner 620

Saucony Women’s Run Lux II Short

shorts

I have two pairs of these. They’re comfortable, have a nice pocket on the side, and don’t squeeze too tight around the waist.

Oiselle Running Women’s Roga Short

rogas

Cute and comfortable, short but not too short, nice thick waistband. There’s also a front pocket and a back pocket with a zipper.
PRO Compression

compression socks

These come in lots of fun colors and designs, and procompression always has a deal on the “sock of the month”. I like to wear these while running, and before and after long runs.

Brooks Women’s PureFlow 2

pink pureflows

I am on my second pair of these, but I also like the Brooks Women’s Ravenna 3
and Brooks Womens PureCadence 2

The Grid Foam Roller

Where would I be without my foam roller? Once I truly learned how to use it properly, it definitely helps me recover from my runs and keeps my muscles loose. My foam roller is from trigger point

I also use these products  as well:

(The ball is also from trigger point)

Camelbak Women’s Hydration Pack

camelbak

This has saved my life on so many of my long runs this summer. Sometimes I have needed a little more water on really sweaty days but usually 50 oz is plenty.

Camelbak Quick Grip Podium Chill Bottle(21-Ounce/Zip Packet, Black)

handheld

I use this on shorter runs when I still want to bring something to drink. I also like that I can store some things in the pocket like gels or keys. Also, this bottle helps to keep my water cold.

Tuneband for iPhone 4 & iPhone 4S
and Philips Flexible Earhook Headphones

music

I don’t love having my phone on my arm while I run, but when I bring it this works well enough. (When I do a long run with my camelback annadel I keep my phone in there).

Also, I need headphones that loop around my ear and I never have a problem with these. They’re only like $9 and don’t last too long but since they are cheap I don’t mind replacing them a couple times a year.

Honey Stinger Organic Waffles

I usually either eat a half or a whole one of these before early runs during the week. I find that I can eat them and start running right away without needing to digest. I like eating a little something before I run and I have found these work really well for me.

GU Energy Gel

During long runs I usually take a packet of Gu about once per hour. I like peanut butter, tri berry, jet blackberry, and mint chocolate.

I think this is probably the most important running accessory! For $20 it is well worth it and now I put it on before every run without even thinking about it- Garmin on one wrist, road ID on the other!

Also check out the other tabs for winter running gear and favorite running-related books.
